Privacy Policy
Yout.chat is built to be private by default. Your conversations do not have to leave your device for us to make money.
How your chats are stored
By default, every conversation you have on Yout.chat lives in your browser's IndexedDB — not on our servers. Signing out, clicking the Fire Button (🔥), or clearing site data removes them entirely. We only persist the content of a message on our side if you explicitly toggle Sync to cloud, which is available to Pro subscribers.
How we talk to model providers
When you send a message, we forward just the text to the model that created it (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, Mistral). We never forward your email, your account ID, your IP address, or your user agent. A generic yout.chat referer is all the model provider sees, along with a request not to retain the data or use it for training. We operate under the contracts each provider exposes for this purpose.
What we do log
We keep a per-request billing ledger: model used, token counts, credits charged, timestamp. We keep it so we can show you an honest usage dashboard, prevent abuse, and pay taxes. The ledger does not include message content.
Rate limits and abuse prevention
For anonymous usage we rate-limit by a salted hash of IP + user agent. The IP and user agent are used only to compute the hash and are never stored in cleartext against your messages.
Payments
Payments are handled by Stripe and PayPal. We never see or store your full card number — only the last four digits for receipts. Subscriptions can be cancelled any time from your account page.
The Fire Button
Hit the 🔥 button on the chat page and we will (1) wipe your browser-local conversations, (2) delete every cloud-synced conversation you own, and (3) clear your usage ledger. It is instant, it is irreversible, and it requires no email confirmation.
Your rights
You can request an export of all data we have associated with your account, have it deleted, or have it corrected, by emailing privacy@yout.chat. We respond within 30 days.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that weakens your privacy, we will notify signed-in users by email before it takes effect.
